What is a good gift for my retiring piano teacher?

What is a good gift for my retiring piano teacher?

Postby Adishesh_s » Sat Feb 05, 2011 3:40 pm

My piano teacher is retiring this year (she's a college piano teacher), and I've had her as my piano teacher for 4 years. I'm heading off to college this fall as well, so I really wanna get her a gift that expresses my appreciation for her, because she's been very instrumental in my development and love for classical music. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

1- Potted plant ( cactus , flowers , Bamboo)
2- Pottery ( Small candy dish , plate , mugs )
3- Coffee table book ( a book of a place she wants to go , musicians , or what ever suites her personality)
4- A card and some fresh flowers. ( the card can say something about how inspirational she is to you. A hand made card would be best ,but if your not into that sort of thing something that you picked out would be just as good)
5- a Tim Horton's or Starbucks coffee or tea set.

That's all I can come up with for now. Hope I could give you an idea or two.

How great that you're thinking of your teacher!!

Have you done any composing? If she's anything like me, she'd love something you wrote. :-) Even something simple. I treasure the songs even my elementary students dedicate to me!

I also like personalized stationery (cards, note paper). Undoubtedly your teacher will have many friends, colleagues and students that she will be keeping in touch with!

Do you have any pictures of the two of you, from performances or recitals? That would be lovely, framed, along with a letter of fun memories from your years of lessons.

If she's shared with you another hobby or restaurant she loves, you could buy a gift card or put together a gift basket. For instance, if she loves coffee you could find some great mugs and gourmet coffee, coffee candy, and other goodies and make a basket. A night out at a restaurant is always good, too!

If you happen to know a favorite piece of piano music, you could record it for her.

Hope that helps! Good luck, and I'm sure she'll appreciate whatever you do!

Hey,how about build a custom polymer clay doll looks like her? -it can be a mini doll playing piano:)
It's a kinds of doll which look the same with photos (nearly 80-90% similar, it can be ).
I sent it for my friends as birthday gift and anniversary gift, it is a big surprise and they all love it so much!

Rachel-
You've got this question posted twice. I got to be very close friends to my daughter's piano teacher with whom she worked for 13 years! Over the years this teacher received every conceivable gift from her many students. She had duplicates of many (miniature pianos, etc. ). My dad was a piano teacher and he gave out many gifts to his students, but I don't remember him receiving that many. Dad had a friend in the jewelry business and gave cuff links and pins and earrings with music themes. Your teacher probably has many of these but if you shop hard you can probably find some unique music-themed jewelry. It would help if you could talk to your teacher (or family member) to find out what she likes and what she already has. Good luck. You are very nice.
